However, many of our residents come to stay with us after hospitalization. Medicare is available as payment for eligible recipients after three consecutive qualifying midnight stays in a hospital, and when skilled nursing care is medically necessary per your physician.
Medicare can pay for your stay for up to 100 days. During days 1 through 20, Medicare pays all medical charges associated with your stay. During days 21 through 100, Medicare pays all charges less a resident paid co-payment. In 2009 that co-payment is $133.50 per day. Many residents have private supplemental insurance that may take care of the co-payment. Medicare will not pay for respite stays.
Medicaid (Illinois Public Aid) will pay help to pay medical costs incurred while staying at a nursing facility if the resident qualifies financially. Sometimes patients will use their Medicare benefits first, and then become private pay or Medicaid residents. The facility will help you with understanding how to apply for Medicaid.
Payor source has no effect on care; in fact, most of our staff do not know who is on Medicaid, Medicare, insurance, or private pay.
What can I bring to Sunrise Manor?
The rooms at Sunrise Manor usually have two beds, two nightstands, dresser & closet space, and chairs.
Linens are furnished, but many residents prefer to bring their own bedspreads. Some bring a favorite chair. Pictures, collectibles, etc., are all allowed. However, families must realize that space is limited.
All residents get dressed each morning. Whatever type of clothing the resident is comfortable wearing is what we recommend he or she bring for a stay. Clothing that is easy to get on and off and is washable is preferred. We usually tell families to pack their loved one as if they are going on a 7 day vacation; this allows the resident to have a choice of their attire each morning. We also suggest you bring a sweater as some parts of the building may be cooler than others.
TVs are not furnished in residents’ rooms but we do have an area available in each room should you want to bring one in for your loved ones stay. Satellite is available for a monthly charge. We do have a TV room that is available for residents and their families and we also have a TV in the small dining rooms for all to enjoy.
What will I do all day?
We have a bustling Activities Department who provides activities throughout the day for our residents. Our goal is to make your stay at Sunrise Manor as enjoyable as possible through entertainment and activities.
Our activities are constantly changing in response to interests of our residents. We celebrate special occasions and holidays throughout the year, and always invite the families of our residents to participate. We provide a monthly Activity calendar to each resident so they know in advance of the activities
Of course, some residents prefer to stay in their rooms and watch TV or read, and we respect that choice. Residents may choose to attend any or all activities at any time. Some residents just enjoy getting together with other residents for a cup of coffee and visiting.
When can my family visit?
Families and friends are welcome to visit. However, to respect the privacy of our patients, our official visiting hours are 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Pets are also welcome to visit. Residents love to see them!
Residents may use the facility’s privacy phone to make or receive calls anytime. In addition a phone jack is available in every room and a phone can be installed in your room by your family placing a phone call to Verizon. Cell phones without picture making capabilities are permitted as well.
Families are welcomed to reserve our chapel area for parties, family reunions or just a small gathering.
With advanced notice to our nursing staff, we would be happy to make arrangements should your family want to take you out for the day or a weekend.

How do I get admitted to Sunrise Manor?
If you are in the hospital, and your doctor feels you need a longer recuperation period, you need to contact your Social Worker. When you enter the hospital you will have a Social Worker assigned to you. Just ask to see the Social Worker and let him/her know that you would like to go to Sunrise Manor if you need extended care. By notifying the Social Worker this will help in making your discharge plans and it prevents them from contacting other extended care facilities for your extended stay. The Social Worker will be the liaison between you and us.
If you are at home, you will first need to call Sunrise Manor to make arrangements. We will be happy to guide you in the screening process. Second, we will give you the Department of Aging phone number as they will need to come to your home at no charge and screen you. Third, we will come to your home and meet with you for further planning.
If you are in another facility and would like to move to Sunrise Manor, you will need to call Sunrise Manor. We will ask for your permission to screen your loved one and then we will help you easily transition from one facility to our facility.
